The Birdhouse Challenge That Took Flight
Vizcom partnered with Render Weekly for a global design challenge reimagining the birdhouse, receiving hundreds of creative submissions. Five winning designs—including Germain Verbrackel's "DUCKHOUSE" and Edwin Tanu's "KASA"—were brought to life by Womp as physical prototypes.

The Birdhouse Challenge That Took Flight

Sometimes, the simplest prompts lead to the most unexpected outcomes.
A few months ago, we teamed up with our friends at Render Weekly to host a community design challenge: reimagine the birdhouse.
The brief was open, and the possibilities: endless. Designers were free to take it anywhere: playful, practical, or wildly experimental. And they did. Hundreds of designers from around the world joined in, transforming a familiar object into something completely new.
From floating birdhouses for ducks to sculptural nests shaped like eggs, the creativity we saw was incredible. Each design pushed past what’s expected and showed what happens when imagination meets the right tools.
At Vizcom, our mission has always been to help designers bring ideas to life faster. To make imagination tangible. And this challenge captured that spirit perfectly.
See it come to life

Watch the winning designs go from sketch, to render, to real.
Meet the winners
Five creators stood out for the way they balanced creativity, storytelling, and craft.

🏆 DUCKHOUSE — by Germain Verbrackel (paradigm)

🏆 KASA — by Edwin Tanu

🏆 EGGY NEST — by Felixander Yuan

🏆 CERAMIC NEST — Léo Crespin

🏆 POLE — by Ward Mertens
Each of these designs was brought to life by our partners at Womp, who turned digital birdhouses into real ones — beautiful proof of how far an idea can go when the right people and tools come together.
And beyond the winners, there were dozens of honorable mentions that reminded us why this community is so special: designers inspiring one another, experimenting fearlessly, and proving that no idea is too small to take flight (pun-intended).

Honorable mentions include:(From left to right) Carton Feeder by Chris Ference, Big Bird by Matthew Hanzly, Plastic Bird Habitation System™ by Philipp / Studio Cool Berlin, Ripplecrest by Felixander Yuan, Pulp Nests by Carson Porter-Keese, Solari Bird House by Yelyzaveta Spitsyna, & Stacker Birdhouse by Thomas Mahota
