Crestform is a sculptural mule made by wind-carved desert dunes, translating sandy textures, permeable surfaces to feel the air, and undulating ridges into a molded, flowing silhouette. Together, these elements create a form that feels both grounded and fluid, echoing the movement of sand shaped by wind.
Desert sand is wispy and flowing, yet also hot and heavy. Costumes from Denis Villeneuve's "Dune", breathable footwear and lightweight sandals informed my design process. Crestform also merges the elevated stance of platform derbies with the agility of split-sole ballroom shoes, while the chunky vamp and toe volume nod elsewhere to rugged working footwear, mimicking the contrasting nature of desert sand.
