This mule takes inspiration from the sculptural forms of beetles, translating their protective shells into a smooth, continuous silhouette that feels both organic and futuristic. The exaggerated volumes and seamless surface create a bold yet minimal form, while the open mule structure keeps it effortless and wearable. Designed as a balance between nature and modern design, it turns a familiar natural form into a distinctive everyday object.
My inspiration comes from a fascination with small, often overlooked insects, whose layered shells and segmented bodies reveal an unexpected structural beauty. A key visual reference was a sculptural furniture piece made from stacked, rounded organic forms that interlock like soft stones, which helped me explore similar segmented volumes while generating concepts in Vizcom. Combining these influences allowed me to translate the protective geometry of beetles into a bold yet minimal mule silhouette.
